The Wonders of Mui Ne !!

You would think that Mui Ne is just another beach resort area but we discovered that it wasn't ! Indeed, there are many cool natural wonders to check out. We mean...it's just amazing to see the different color contrasts in the sanddunes and the little canyons surrounded by the sea and the green landscapes...

Christmas at the beach...

Merry Christmas to everyone ! We know it's a little late but we had some issues finding a reliable internet connection. As you can see on the pictures, we had a pretty "tough" Christmas with lots of sun and many drinks on the beach...we are sooooooooooo tired ;O)

A walk in Ho Chi Minh City

After our short trip to the Mekong Delta, a visit to Ho Chi Minh was not to be missed. It was the first stop of our vietnamese itinerary. We're going to the beach (again ;O) for Christmas...unusual but quite pleasant in the end. See you in Mui Ne !!

Biking around the Mekong Delta area

Riding a bike for about 37km across villages, small canals and seeing no other tourists than us was an unforgettable experience. The downside of this was having a little muscle ache in the evening... it's been a loooong time since our last gym class ! ;o).

Sihanoukville, the beach !

It's good to feel warm sand again under our feet after our honeymoon in Koh-Samui. Sihanoukville is where we are and we like it quite a lot. Very few tourists, some still pristine areas like the ones we visited in the Ream National Parc and very friendly people. Let us enjoy this moments of calm before returning to Phnom-Penh for a night and head towards Vietnam !!

Phnom-Penh

After a bus trip from Sieam Reap, here we are in Phnom Penh, the capital, to spend a couple of days and visit this city before going down south to the beach !! We guess two days will be more than enough since we have been told by many other backpackers that the city was nothing special. Anyway, we enjoyed it even if sometimes people trying to get something (well...heu...money) from us got slightly annoying...

Tonle Sap - Floating Village

On our second day in Siem Reap and after re-visiting Angkor Wat in the morning, we went for a boat ride on the Tonle Sap Lake in order to see a floating village ! Well, it was a really nice experience to be able to see all the locals doing their daily stuff under our eyes but what drew our attention the most is that almost every single one of the floating houses has a TV Antenna !!! Apparently there are quite a few shows (mainly from China) that people just can't miss ! :O)

Angkor Wat !

Our long awaited visit to Angkor Wat has finally arrived ! And we actually visited it twice...once by ourselves with a very nice Tuk Tuk Driver who charged us only 8 USD a day (!!) and the second time with a guide, since we really felt that just visiting the place without knowing much about its history didn't make much sense. And despite our guide wasn't the most dynamic one, we got to learn quite a few things that weren't specified in our guide...It's definitely a place we'll come back to because it's beauty is just impressive !!

The Thai Farm Cooking School !

This specific cooking school was recommended to us before starting our trip for being different than the usual cooking schools in downtown Chiang-Mai. This one is outside of Chiang-Mai in a farm where all the ingredients for cooking are grown! Well, let's say it, we really had a blast cooking our own meal under the supervision of our very dynamic teacher. An experience not to be missed if you're visiting the area !!

Happy Birthday to the King !

Apart from the Royal Flora festival, there are many activities organized to celebrate and honour King Bhumibol for his 60th Birthday. One of them was to lit a candle and send it in a paper bag to the sky. Each of those candles represented a wish so that by the end of the evening the sky seemed to be full of stars. And again, Happy Birthday to the King !

Chiang Mai !

We had heard about it but we would never have thought that we'd like Chiang Mai as much ! We decided to spend our Sunday like average Thai people by going to the Ratchaphruek Royal Flora festival, which honours the king's sixtieth anniversary. We were quite impressed to see very little tourists, if almost none. It was really great to see all those family spending their sunday in this beautiful flower exhibition. On our second day, we decided to rent a moped and wander around Chiang-Mai...there's only one thing to say : We really had so much fun doing this !! It really was a cool experience even with the pretty heavy traffic we encountered in certain parts of the city.Visiting Chiang-Mai's zoo and the Doi-Suthep temple with our moped are the highlights of day !!
